Polly Gentry Studio Update | September 30, 2018

It's been a while since my last blog and I started thinking I should just update weekly on what I've been working on and what I will be doing in the coming week.   It has been a whirlwind of a summer and now we are full on Fall here in Kansas.

Last week I finished up a few commission pieces for some customers.   A few pinned hearts and a watercolor sketch of my friend's childhood home.  I also painted some abstract flowers on Thursday.  That was a lot of fun!   I called the painting Flower Power and I just loaded it onto my website under "Paintings" I think I'll be painting more flowers in the weeks to come.

The month of October I am going to be putting a daily challenge ink piece in my Instagram and Facebook stories.  There are Instagrammers who like to encourage other artists to create every day and I love that!   So I'm going to participate this month practicing using my new pen markers and creating the challenge word in chinese characters.   My trip to China in May this year really intrigued me to learn to write some of the characters.   If you want to follow along you can find me on both Instagram and Facebook @pollygentrystudio.

I am also going to be stretching raw canvas for the first time ever this week.  I have 2 commissioned flags to get started on and they wanted a unique size canvas rather than the standard sizes I always paint.  They also like heavy paint with rich deep strokes so that was what lead me to the palette knife floral this week to get back into the groove with thick paints.   I can't wait to show you these flags when I am done.

I love hearing from you all so don't hesitate to leave me a message!
